peace, love & understanding

peace, love, and understanding

We really believe that Jesus
inaugurated the reign of God,
and welcomed us to enter it with him.
The result is that we are called
to a different way of ordering our lives,
our choices, our possessions, and our relationships.
By the power of the Holy Spirit we seek
to enter into God's reign for...

our citizenship is in heaven.
And we eagerly await a Savior from there,
the Lord Jesus Christ

Love and faithfulness meet together;
righteousness and peace kiss each other.
Faithfulness springs forth from the earth,
and righteousness looks down from heaven.
The LORD will indeed give what is good...
Psalm 85:10-12a

  “The King will reply,
‘I tell you the truth,  whatever you did
for one of the least of these brothers of mine,
 you did for me.’"
Matthew 25:40

Blessed are the peacemakers,
      for they will be called children of God.

Who Am I?

Jesus, in Acts of John

I will be saved, and I will save.
I will be loosed, and I will loose.
I will be wounded, and I will wound.
I will be born, and I will give birth.
I will eat, and I will be eaten.
I will hear, and I will be heard...
I am a lamp to all who behold me;
a mirror to all who perceive me.
I am a door to all who knock at me;
I am the way, to you, a traveler.

Finding a real Jesus...

New Year's Revolution

Charles Moore

I’m skeptical of New Year's resolutions. They're too easy to make, rarely carried out, and often cover up what really needs to change. If we're honest, few of us really want things to be completely different. We just want life to get better, or easier. We can handle a tune-up or face-lift, but drastic change? Medication, yes; surgery, no. Reform, maybe; revolution, never.

The Beatitudes

Kurt Vonnegut

For some reason, the most vocal Christians among us never mention the Beatitudes. But, often with tears in their eyes, they demand that the Ten Commandments be posted in public buildings. And of course that's Moses, not Jesus. I haven't heard one of them demand that the Sermon on the Mount, the Beatitudes, be posted anywhere.

“Blessed are the merciful” in a courtroom? “Blessed are the peacemakers” in the Pentagon? Give me a break!
